How long have you been doing nails? And how did you get started?

I created Official Nails during the pandemic with no prior business knowledge. Just time, patience (a lot of crying and sleepless nights)! But I was working out of a hallway and on myself and family members. I was buying products I didn’t need and that didn’t work correctly but with all trial and error I finally found products that not only work amazing for my business but my clients. It’s officially been 5 years since I started official nails, I qualified as a nail technician in 2021 so I have been taking clients since then.

1. What’s your go-to nail shape and why do you love it?

My go to nail shape is stiletto I love how sharp or soft I can make her depending on my mood and how stiletto structures my finger and purely because of how elegant and classy she makes me feel.

2. Which nail technique do you think every beginner should master first?

The biggest Technique I believe every beginner nail tech should focus on is prep. Not how quick you are or if your nail art is perfect but prep! If your prep is not on point you’re going to experience lifting, chipping and unsatisfied clients who will either keep coming back for “nail repairs” or you’ll never see them again. Prep will make any treatment your preforming last Weeks and will make your sets look 1000 times better as they’ll be clean and crisp.

3. Tell us about a nail set you’re most proud of – what made it special?

my most proud of set would have to be a stiletto set I did for my mum, purely because we pushed her out of her comfort zone not only with the shape but the design and she is now officially a stiletto girly and loves creative designs. It’s when I realised I’m a freestyle nail technician as I produced some of the cleanest line work ever. 

4. What’s one common nail mistake you see all the time, and how can people avoid it?

One common nail mistake I think not everyone realises they’re doing is you don’t need to shape your tips before acrylic application unless you’re doing almond or stiletto. This is because once the acrylic is on you’re going to go back in after to file and clean up. This is when you’re filing down the nail taking awayyour clients length.

5. How do you stay inspired when it comes to nail art?

The way I stay inspired is I go to bed watching nail videos which then causes nail art dreams, which can sometimes wake me up in the middle of the night for me to go into the salon and produce the work, It’s very tiring🤣! But I also run nail art competitions for my clients to let them give me their personality through nail art here’s the winning nail art from May.

What’s your favourite Glitter Planet product that you couldn’t live without and why?

My favourite Glitter Planet product would have to be nude attitude, acrylic core powder it’s the most creamiest subtle beige (nude) that suits all skin tones it’s a staple for any nail techs kit. That and my size 12 Bestie acrylic brush because she just helps me apply acrylic so clean and smooth.
